Old world charm with a golden touch

Parlour Wine Room is a beautiful, old-worldly dining room and wine bar, quietly nestled in a heritage listed building in Canberra’s New Acton Precinct. The interior provides an eclectic arrangement of classical furniture complemented by the Art Deco architecture.

Parlour Wine Room

Challenge

After a disastrous fire in 2011 destroyed the space, a lengthy rebuild project began to restore the building to its original glory and to see Parlour Wine Room rise from the ashes. With the restoration of Parlour Wine Room underway, Inklab was approached to help breathe new life into the establishment with a brand update that would speak to the heritage of the location and help build on the nostalgia and story of the space.

Solution

The identity was updated with the new space in mind, paying homage to the original ‘P’ monogram and incorporating the iconic peacock as an illustrative connection to the original sister-bar; Knightsbridge Penthouse. The design is ambitious, blending and balancing typography and illustration in its construction. From the elegant script to the intricate monogram illustration, the identity developed has impact and versatility while replicating the luxurious nature of Parlour Wine Room.
